Insecurity Imam Urges Muslims to pray for Peace, Unity

Malam Muhammad Nafi'u, the
Chief Imam of Nupe Road Central
Mosque, Kaduna, on Friday,
urged Muslims to continue to
pray for peace and stability to
end the security challenges
threatening the country.

He made the call in an interview
with the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) after the Friday prayer in
Kaduna.

He said "the country is in need of
prayers for peace and stability
and to end the present
bloodshed in some parts of
the country."
The cleric condemned the spate
of attacks in parts of the country,
saying no religion allowed the
killing of innocent souls.

"Islam is against this devilish act
and perpetrators of such an act
cannot be called Muslims," he
added.
He urged the Federal Government
to address the insurgency
seriously because the country
was losing several lives daily for
no cause.

The Imam said "what
is happening in Borno, Yobe and
Adamawa states is barbaric,
inhuman and unjust."
He enjoined parents to ensure
proper upbringing of their
children, stressing that "if
parents fail to perform their
duties, Almighty Allah will ask
them on the day of
accountability."
Nafi'u also advised children to
always obey their parents and
shun vices. (NAN)
