Senate declares war on Boko Haram.

(Report from the Office of SA to President on NASS Matters)The Senate has at plenary asked the Federal Government to declare total war on the Boko Haram insurgents. According to the Senate President, Senator David Mark, the group has declared war on the country. The Boko Haram militants in the last three weeks have killed innocent school children in Potiskum, aside the abducted Chibok girls who are yet to be found.

Despite several appeals for the group to down arms and embrace negotiation, the militants have continued on the path of infamy. The Senate President therefore, urged the Government to bring all our war resources to bear on the insurgents. While he urged the group to embrace peace and come to the negotiating table, he called on the Government not to relent in its effort to totally subdue the rebellious group.

He expressed sympathy for the affected family, Government and people of Yobe State. A minute silence was observed on behalf of the slain students by the Senator
