The Acting Secretary of Programmes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Ochapa Ogenyi has pledged increased partnership with the Borno State Government in the rehabilitation of the victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
Ochapa Ogenyi made this pledge on Monday January 25, 2016 when the state Governor Kashim Shetimma (Alhaji) paid him a courtesy call in his office. He said that such assistance and support will be in the areas covered by the MDGs such as schools, healthcare centres, rehabilitation, reconstruction and reintegration as well as provision of portable water.
While speaking at the occasion, the Borno State Governor, Kashim Ibrahim praised the efforts of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration, adding that there is now some level of sanity in the environment as the military are working hard to dislodge the insurgents from every angle. He noted that people who were afraid to come home, have started coming.
He further solicited support towards building mega schools, hospitals and training centres to enable them engage most of the youths that are idle and jobless, stressing that "an idle man is the devils workshop". He expressed hope that the MDGs will consider Borno State as a most deserving state for infrastructural development in view of the destruction inflicted by the insurgents.
