Rectors seek end to polytechnic, varsity dichotomy in Nigeria

BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA — The Council of Heads of
Polytechnics and Colleges of
Technology in Nigeria, COHEADS,
yesterday, sought an end to the
discrimination against graduates
of polytechnics in the country,
saying it was counter-productive.

COHEADS after its 127th regular
meeting at the Federal
Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State,
called on the Federal Government
to urgently review the policy of
discrimination between
graduates of polytechnics and
varsities and warned that it was
not good for the growth of the
country.

The seven-point communiqué by
the Chairman, Dr. Kabiru Matazu,
also urged the Federal
Government and the striking
lecturers to shift grounds to
resolve the prolonged strike.
