Telecoms giant, Globacom, has emerged as the exclusive telecommunications partner and sponsor of the second edition of African Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) billed for Lagos from May 23 to 24, 2015.
The two-day high-end fashion show which will hold at the Oceanview Marquee and the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, is geared towards providing veritable platforms for promoting made-in-Nigeria designs as well as visibility and awareness for indigenous designers.
The fashion shows will equally be a forum for promoting the work of African and African-inspired designers and fine artists globally. Globacom and AFWN, in a joint press statement on Sunday in Lagos, disclosed that the sponsorship of the second edition of AFWN by the telecommunications super power further demonstrated Globacom’s commitment to the promotion and sustenance of African arts and culture.
According to the statement, “Globacom identifies with the objective of the organisers to promote emerging Nigerian designers, within and outside the shores of the country. We will continue to be associated with the development of Nigeria and Africa’s rich culture and its works of art.”
The network describes the African Fashion Week Nigeria as an avenue to showcase Africa’s rich cultural heritage and Nigeria’s fast rising fashion industry. It called on Nigeria’s fashion enthusiasts and others who are interested in keeping abreast of fashion trends in Nigeria to troop out en masse to the venue of the event to experience exquisite Nigerian designs on the runway
