The Nigeria police Force has sought to alert the public particularly those who use automated teller machine (ATM) at night, to beware of armed robbers who also pretend to be (ATM) users, in order to rob bank customers.
The Police sent out this timely warning through its website and through the Special Services Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to prevent more persons falling victims of armed robbery attacks at ATM points at night.
According to the Police, "Users of ATMs at night present attractive targets for criminals especially in poorly lit bank premises."
The Police also advise that "Given the growing dependence on the facility for cash withdrawals, there is need for bank to ensure proper lighting of their premises, while also engaging night guard to enhance the safety of their customers.
