Chidoka launches Aviation Passenger Service Portal, Aviation Helpline.

The Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka has launched the Aviation Passenger Service (APS) Portal and Aviation Helpline to facilitate the transformation of the aviation sector into a customer-centric industry.

During the event, the Minister of Aviation noted that the Aviation Passenger Service and Helpline are the programmes designed by him as part of his administration's commitment to providing a one-stop platform for the airborne public to access needed information about airline operations and services in Nigerian airports. Chidoka averred that the APS Portal is a reliable source of verified information intended to empower airborne passengers within and outside Nigeria with accurate data to enable them make informed decisions and plan their journeys.

He further stated that it will serve as channel to create positive passenger experience in trip planning and thereafter. Adding, with the launch of the APS Portal, interested members of the public would be able to search for flights on any routes of their choice within the country as it would permit interested persons in the aviation business to submit complaints, suggestions and commendations to the Ministry and its agencies. He informed that the portal will enable feedback on issues pertaining to domestic airlines and other occurrences at the airports in the country for appropriate intervention by relevant officials.

The Aviation Minister intensified that the portal is an online forum which aims at providing avenues for all stakeholders to share thoughts and opinions on matters relating to the aviation sector in Nigeria, in order to improve on the quality of services rendered by airlines at the nation's airports.

"The portal is intended to put the necessary data needed for decision making at the fingertips of the flying public. With the incessant flight delays encountered at the airports, this feature is designed to expose the efficiencies or otherwise of airlines operating in the country as well as enable passengers to make informed decisions on which airlines to patronize while making arrangements for flight schedules," Chidoka said.

"The aviation portal will serve as a dynamic information site for all airports in the country with a view to provide relevant information specific to the airports. It is purposed to equip travelers with the basic information required to give comfort and safety while travelling." He hinted that the information to be made available at the airports site will include: hotels around airports, hospitals around airports, ground transportation, current weather conditions, departure flights and arrival flights.

Speaking earlier, the Director of E-Governance in the Ministry of Communication Technology, Tope Fashedemi, who represented the Minister lauded Chidoka's initiative, saying it is in tandem with the vision of the Communication Technology Minister
