No fewer than 30 women have given birth among the Internally Displaced Persons(IDP's), from Bama local government area, currently taking refuge in one of the camps in Maiduguri capital. Alhaji Babagana Mahmoud, the Chairman Committee on the IDP's of Government Girls Secondary School Maiduguri camp, stated this in an interview with Newsmen on Friday, said the camp has 4200 women and children who excaped Boko Haram attack in Bama.
Mahmoud said that about 20 pregnant IDP's are still expected to deliver as confirmed from one of the medical doctors in the camp. He explained that the state government had set up committee on safe motherhood in the various camps to assist women on complication.
He said that the government had also procured health kits to each of the IDP's as well as ambulance that was working round the clock to ensure prompt response to expectant mothers in camps to the nearest health facilities."
