The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mr Solomon Arase has ordered the immediate redeployment of 19 Assistant Inspectors General of Police, AIGs and 49 commissioners of police, CPs to various formations and commands across the country.
Deputy Force public relations officer, PRO, Abayomi Shogunle in a statement in Abuja, said the deployment was on account of vacancies created in recent retirement and promotion of senior officers.
The statement reads in parts, "Following the vacancies created from the recent retirement and promotions of senior police officers, the Inspector-General of Police. IGP Solomon Arase has approved the postings of senior police officers."
Prominent among the AIGs redeployed is Mr Mbu Joseph Mbu, who is now the commandant, Police Staff College Jos, Plateau state.
Others affected by the redeployment includes AIG Tambari Mohammed AIG Zone 1 Kano, AIG Bala Hassan, AIG Zone 2 Lagos, AIG Mohammed Abubakar, AIG Zone 3 Yola, AIG Yahaya Ardo,
AIG Zone 4 Makurdi, AIG Musa Daura, AIG Zone 5 Benin and
AIG Adisa Bolanta, 1AIG ZONE 6 Calabar.
AIG Ballah Nasarawa becomes AIG Zone 7 Abuja, AIG Lawal Tanko, AIG Zone 8 Lokoja, AIG Usman Gwary, AIG Zone 9 Umuahia, AIG Mohammed Gana, AIG Zone 10 Sokoto, AIG Helen Kalafite Adeyemi, AIG Zone 11 Osogbo, AIG Johnson Ogunsakin, AIG Zone 12 Bauchi, AIG Patrick Dokumor, Force Secretary, FHQ, Abuja and AIG Adenrele Shinaba, Commandant Nigeria Police Academy, Kano.
Others are, AIG Edgar Nanakumo, AIG Works, FHQ Abuja, AIG Yerima Irimiya, AIG Maritime Police, AIG Olufemi Adenaike AIG Training and Development, FHQ Abuja and AIG James Caulcrick, 2iC Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, FCIID, Abuja.
According to Shogunle, the IGP charged the officers to ensure that their policing activities are in conformity with the strategic policing plans of the current leadership of the Force.
Similarly, some commissioners of police were also deployed to state commands and administrative position at the force headquarters.
The IGP also appointed acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Olabisi Alofe Kolawole as the new Force public relations officer, FPRO.
Kolawole becomes the first female police officer to be appointed Force spokesman and replaces former spokesman, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu who has been deployed to Kogi State to be in charge of the state command.
According to the statement, Kolawole's appointment was geared towards harnessing the enormous potentials among Nigerian female police officers. Until now she was the Force Gender Adviser.
