The immediate past Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ade Abolurin, has said that he was petitioned 20 times, while he was shot 57 times during the course of his duty.

Abolurin said this yesterday in Abuja during an interdenominational thanksgiving service organised in his honour at the National Christian Centre.

Abolurin, who emphasised the efficacy of prayers as the bedrock of his success, noted that thousands of unused bullets were also recovered from the attackers sent to kill him.

The former NSCDC boss explained that he did not know the meaning of bomb until he was on official assignment to Plateau state on that faithful day, when two grenades were shot into his car, pointing guns at him but non of the bullets were able to penetrate into him.

He also gave testimony of how God saved him from a Bellview plane crash when the pilot announced that he had lost control, saying that when he prayed to God, all the occupants of the plane were saved because of him.

While recognising the number of Muslims faithful present at the event, he therefore emphasised the need for more peaceful coexistence regardless of their religious differences.

The Deputy Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jayeola Daramola, who presented a bible gift to Abulorin on behalf of CAN, described him as a dependable Christian, who served the nation well in his capacity as the Commandant General of NSCDC honestly.
