However, eleven suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorists’ sect were yesterday killed early this morning by their colleagues for alleged desertion, witnesses said.
Residents of Miringa, a town under Biu local government area of Borno state, had their hearts in their mouths in the wee hours of yesterday when armed Boko Haram gunmen stormed the community shooting and fishing out alleged fleeing members from house to house.
Much unlike their usual style of attack, the terrorists, this time around, spared both men and women as they target those they labeled as “betrayers”.
Muhammed Kimba, a resident of Miringa and member of the youth vigilance group, Civilian-JTF told reporters on phone from the attacked community that the gunmen had a clear mission.
“The gunmen had a very clear mission, which was to kill some of their suspected members who fled their camp to Miringa town”, said Kimba.
“For some times now Miringa town has been playing host to people who fled various villages and hamlets because of Boko Haram. But of recent some people with questionable appearance have also come to Miringa and had been staying here as displaced persons. We could not confirm our doubts about them because everyone that comes here looked much disheveled.
“But when the gunmen came in this morning and were searching for the eleven persons they eventually killed, some were heard saying ‘we have no business with you villagers except those hypocrites who tried to betray us’, said the Civilian-JTF member
